Team BOHHICA had a great weekend of racing. Teammates George Edwards and Greg Boice took to the waters in their respected classes with fury. Both drivers entered the race knowing that they were at serious speed deficiencies, but vowed to out-drive the class.
George’s class was stacked with competition. The defending 2006 Salmon River sport jet champion was back along with a 3 time B Class World Champion testing the waters of the sport jet class. George put the pedal to the floor running great lines all weekend, but could not make up for the speed advantages. George brought home Silver, but felt like it was a very successful race. “To be in the running to win the race on the last leg with the caliber of the other drivers and boats is awesome.” Karey Crawford, the winner, drove well and his boat was fast.
Greg’s Idaho trip this year was filled with ups and downs. He originally planned on staying home, but was bit a few days before the race with the ‘racing bug’ that so many of us contain. He loaded up his gear and weekend co-pilot, Norm, and headed to Riggins. Testing the boat in Idaho had the big guy’s bobber down. The Hasta La Vista #07 was not running in the mid-80’s like normal. So she was tuned for reliability and let the race begin.
Greg drove the heck out of his boat and the Salmon River. He often ran the fastest lines through the roughest water. He has grasped the feel of his boat and seems to be becoming an artist in the rough stuff. If he can get the bottom of the boat working, watch out US Series. Greg finished overall by only seconds behind a much faster boat. He was eaten up in the upper flat water. His confidence is definitely up though because of such close leg time margins.
ON TO GRANTS PASS!!!!!
