Memorial weekend went well for Team BOHHICA racing in Grants Pass, Oregon. Ryan Ringer captured the crown in the Jet Boat race with a total time of 59 minutes and 37 seconds over nearly 90 miles. |

“I knew Paul was going to be chasing hard and Brett and I needed to be on our A game with our race lines in the river. I had the luxury of being the chaser on Saturday, but roles were reversed on Sunday” said Ringer. | |
The upper Rogue River this year was in very low shape and created a great drivers course. Ringer made the approximately 30 mile downstream leg from Baker Park to Alameda in 19 minutes and 17 seconds. Bagshaw ran into the mechanical gremlin on Sunday with troubles taking him out of the race. “I could not be happier with this boat, this set-up just wants to run. The motor ran very strong all weekend. I actually have the timing backed off a few degrees and was jetted a couple sizes rich to just get through this tough race.”
Terry O’Keefe, the 2007 Idaho Cup winner, with BOHHICA teammate Greg Boice in the co-pilot seat, drove his way into the A Class second place spot with an overall time of 1:12:14.
George Edwards brought home another gold medal for the team. Granted, George was the only entrance in his class, but that did not stop him from running the paint off of his boat.
Grant Kudlac and Robert McKenzie fought through the weekend and battled their way into a second place finish in the BBFX class. The sophomore duo gained some experience living in the wakes on Saturday. Their starting position placed a few slower boats a head of them and the boys from Port Orford spent the day chasing and passing rooster tails.
Ryan McGinnis, the defending Boatnik hydroplane champion, fought through a weak motor to reach the podium stand as runner-up. Ryan was put to the grind before the start flag even dropped on Monday. He drew the number 9 starting position meaning that he had his work cut out for him to get to the lead. “I have something wrong with my power head, I had no acceleration and everyone was pulling away from me at the starts,” stated McGinnis. Consistent driving kept him in the hunt as he picked up spots in the field each leg he ran.

Ryan McGinnis’s brother and youngest BOHHICA teammate Tyler ran two and a half legs very well, but had to drop out through the third leg due to motor failure. Tyler was getting incredible starts, but speedy Roger Sanderson, the overall Hydro winner, was passing him out in the flat water. Tyler was in second place when he dropped out of the race.
